2 to 1

Well, we know.

My wife and I have been blessed with 2 children so far in our lives. Cayce, our 8 (almost 9) year old daughter, and Kyle, our 7 year old son. They have been a joy, a terror, and a blessing all wrapped up in one.

Now, the tie will be broken on June 11th.

I always battled the idea of three kids. First, you move into 5 passenger vehicle stage at all times. My Jeep has become very impractical. Second, you have the whole middle child thing. Third, and I believe most important is what I call the "Roller Coaster factor". There are no roller coasters designed to carry three passengers. All of them either hold four or two. Guess who gets to ride by themselves in this equation. That's right. Dad.

However, I have warmed to our life with three kids. It is going to be fun.

Anyway, I know both of you are getting angry with me for waiting this long. On or around June 11th, Jennifer, Cayce, Kyle and I are having a...

Girl

We saw the sonagram last Thursday and it was amazing. We then sealed the result and met a bunch of our friends for ice cream that evening. We let our kids open the envelope in front of everyone so they could share it with many of their friends. Cayce jumped up and down and Kyle was bummed. Yep. Kyle and I are surrounded. Even our dog is a girl. I pulled him aside and told him that us guys are going to have to stick together. He thought that was cool and is now pumped that it is a girl.

So there you have it: Our final score (we think):

Girls, 2. Boys, 1.

Don't know if Bart told you, but before the boys left for Cub Scouts and to meet you at TR, Will said, "If it's a girl, I'm going to tell Kyle what a bummer it is to have a little sister." I made him promise on his Teen Titans collection that he wouldn't. When he came home he told me, "I didn't say anything to Kyle, Mom." I told him I was glad and that he should let Kyle decide for himself how he feels about it. Then he turned to walk off and I heard him under his breath:

"But I WANTED to tell him. And it IS a bummer."

And your jeep was practical when????

Congrats on the little girl. If we have a boy, maybe we can hook them up...when they 30!

It really changes things going from the man-to-man to a zone defense. Being outnumbered as parents is a little daunting. And tell Kyle that if our kids are any indication, he'll just end up twice as spoiled. Connor plays his sisters shamelessly and they spoil him rotten.

you know you could solve the problem of having to ride a roller coaster by yourself by having another kid. That's what my parents did. just a thought... i'm very excited for y'all!

Hey, this is Scott(fellow member of the superior social club) blogging under my wife's name. I just read your post about your family. We have the same age kids (Cassidy is 9 and Cooper is 7)and we are looking to add a third. I had always been resistant to the third and have always used the theme park excuse as my reasoning for keeping the status quo of just having 2 kids. I also have always been partial to man to man defense as opposed to using the zone defense. With a third child we will have to employ the zone. However, with the two kids being older, we will have helpers, and in a few years free babysitting! What a deal, I am sold on 3! Anyway, congrats on your great family! Scott K

Ok- well being outnumbered really isn't that bad. I was outnumbered for a long time, and I did probably get spoiled a little. Then, when my parents decided to try to even the score when I was 16- I prayed for a boy sooo hard because I'd gotten used to being outnumbered and I liked it. Alas, I got a sister (who I really adore) and the score is now even. But, I'm not real sure the crazy family next door to you should be a guide... seriously, they are nuts! :) See you guys next weekend!
